Wiltshire Council

Driving applicants for vacant positions

Wiltshire Council is the local authority which governs the non-metropolitan county of Wiltshire in South West England.

Challenge

Wiltshire Council asked TMH to plan and buy an advertising campaign for their recruiting drive for passenger drivers, a fulfilling position with the purpose of securely transporting their special education needs and disability students to school. The goal was to fill 73 posts.

Action

The campaign included various advertising channels, including Fuel pump advertising, Greatest Hits Radio across Salisbury and West Wiltshire, Heart Radio and leaflets into homes across Wiltshire, for a duration of four weeks.  The radio targeted the +60’s to generate interest from adults looking for a part-time driving position.

      Results

In just 4 weeks, Wiltshire Council successfully filled 46 permanent driver positions. These hires can be attributed to the campaign’s efforts.

The campaign generated interest from 20 applicants who are currently awaiting interviews. These individuals have shown interest in the driver positions and are in the process of being scheduled for interviews.  Additionally, the campaign attracted a significant number of applicants, with 69 individuals currently awaiting shortlisting.

      Highlights

Wiltshire Council was extremely pleased with the results.

The filling of 46 positions is a significant accomplishment. It indicates that the campaign effectively generated interest and attracted suitable candidates for the available positions. With the 20 applicants waiting interviews and a further 69 applicants waiting to be shortlisted, proved the success of the campaign.
